Ammonium Persulfate
Ammonium Persulfate is used as an initiator for the polymerization of monomers and as a strong oxidizing agent in many applications.
Description
Ammonium Persulfate is an initiator for the emulsion or solution polymerization of acrylic monomers, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, etc. It can act as an emulsifier in the co-polymerization of styrene, acrylonitrile, and butadiene, etc.
It is also used in the treatment of metal surfaces, activation of copper, and aluminum surfaces.
Another common application of Ammonium Persulfate is in the textile industry, where it acts as a bleach activator – particularly for cold bleaching and as a component of hair bleaching formulations.
Others applications:
- Paint and coating additive;
- chemical synthesis;
- water treatment (decontamination);
- waste gas treatment;
- disinfectant;
- paper production (starch modification, pulping, cold bleaching).
